A blog about the four C's of my life - Children, Crafting, Cleaning, Cooking!
We almost all have them and should all have a place to share them!

Pine Cone Carrot Tutorial

You Will Need:

Long Pine Cones
Old Christmas Garland
Orange Spray Paint
Glue Gun

I wash and bake my pine cones, so you can do that first if you'd like!
(Instructions Below)

Step 1- Lay down newspaper and spray paint your pine cones

Step 2- Seal with sealer if you choose

Step 3- Cut your garland  into about 4 inch pieces
you can really choose how long you'd like your stems to be,
then glue the pieces to top of pine cones for stems

Finish by adding them to baskets or buckets or wherever you'd like!

Cleaning and Baking the pine cones:
Preheat Oven 200 degrees

Fill the sink with soapy water soak them for about 20 min
swishing the water to remove sap and debris.
Then rinse thoroughly to remove all soap.
Allow to drain in sink for a few minutes.
Then place on foil lined cookie sheet,
bake for about 20 minutes until dry.
You can also place outside on a nice warm sunny day to dry!
**DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED IN THE OVEN**

Dumpster Diving Tips!

Dumpster Diving Tips!

A friend of mine found this and I just had to share!
My friends call me The Dumpster Diva!
I think most would be offended by that name,
I wear it with pride lol!!

Do you dare to dumpster dive? You have heard folks talk about it, so now you want to read more about it. Let's begin with are you willing?

Scenario 1:
You are driving down the street and see a perfectly good object on the curbside.
Are you willing to stop and toss it in the trunk?

Scenario 2:
Your neighbors toss out their newspapers in the recycle bin.
Are you willing to pick up extra coupon inserts from their bins?

Scenario 3:
You are bored one night and looking for something fun to do.
Are you willing to venture into dumpster diving for cheap entertainment?

If you are still reading this, you have either done this before, or are considering trying it out.

Here are some tips:

What to bring:
Comfortable clothes
Baby wipes
Flashlight
Milk crate (for stepping stool)
Pocket knife
Grocery bags/trash bags
Gloves
Large enough vehicle (don't want to find you don't have enough space for your stash)
First aid kit
Unger or poking stick
Friends
Twine
Tape

When to dive:

Each person has their own preferable time to dive,
but I recommend early morning or late night.
Don't dive after midnight to avoid confrontations.
Dive consistently.
Remember, you may not find something each time you go.
It's the thrill of the hunt.
You never know when a dive will be a lucky one.

Where to dive:

You can start by mapping out or scoping the following areas-

Florists
Thrift stores
Strip malls
Grocery stores
Department stores
Residential (apartment/condo)
Video stores
Bookstores
Toy stores
Electronic stores
Craft stores
Recycle bins
Hotels

What to do if confronted:

It's a good idea to say that you are looking for boxes.
Most store personnel are more concerned with you dumping your trash
into their dumpster vs. taking items from their dumpster.
This is not the time to be defensive.
Be polite and leave as soon as possible.
If you know your area's law, then you can always come back later.
You may want to consider not diving in your immediate area,
if you are concerned about being recognized.

Is it illegal:

You can check for your local area ordinances or call your police department to inquire.
Most areas consider trash public domain.
Be sure to check that it is not a breach of privacy in your area.
Do not dive in fenced area dumpsters or
where any do not trespass signs are posted.

How long per dive:
Do not dive in one dumpster over ten minutes.
The longer you are there, the higher your chances are for being confronted.
Be as quick as possible.
Be discreet.
Keep in mind small things like
not parking your car directly next to the dumpster.

Well, now that we are educated on how
to dumpster dive. Let's Go!!
I say there is nothing better than dumpster diving,
and curb shopping! It is amazing what you'll find!

Welcome

Hello Welcome to my new Blog,
My name is Janice, most people call me Jan.
I am a stay at home Mom of three boys 14,11,2 all
of which keep me very busy! I am also a full time student
working towards my Associates Degree in Business Management.
I am also a avid crafter. I love anything and all things creative and crafty!

I am not new to the blogging world I have another blog called
The Primitive Outhouse where I have been blogging for a while now.
I love that blog and all my followers, I just felt like I needed a change of pace.
I decided to make this blog to reveal my lighter side and talk
about the many other aspects of my life and creativity.
My 4 C's Children, Crafting, Cleaning, Cooking!
On my other blog I felt limited to what I could blog about.
I felt like it branded me in a way to only primitive,
antiques and the like.
I also felt the same with My Etsy Shop that I have a limit on what I can sell.
I am an Artist and Creator and
I do not want to be limited on what I can do by my name.
I feel in a sense I have done this to myself and because of it
I have been in a creative slump =(
I believe creativity has no limits so why should I limit mine!
I am going to enjoy all sides of my creativity the light and dark side.

In my years of blogging I have run across so many GREAT blogs,
which are not primitive and I have become a follower of so many.
My blog roll is 300+ and I am finding that is confusing and hard to follow.
I want to enjoy all the blogs and comment and make friends
and that is hard to when you can barely keep up and decipher who is who.
I love seeing kid crafts and making them and want a place to share those things.
I love T2T and shabby chic and felt and glitter and PINK!!
That sort of stuff is not primitive but, I LOVE IT!!
I wanted this blog for that very stuff and to make friends with those who also
enjoy those things too!
I now have a way to separate the two and begin another venture
all while having my old ventures as well! I also have created a new
Etsy shop to sell the not so primitive items I have created!

I look forward to meeting all my new followers!
